Identification of Quantitative Trait Loci (QTLs) Conferring Dry Matter Content and Starch Content in Cassava (<i>Manihot esculenta</i> Crantz)

چکیده

Cassava tubers are an excellent source of carbohydrate and a competitive starch most traded internationally. It is highly desirable raw material for food industrial purpose due to its high dietary content. The economic value cassava products lies in the DMC (dry matter content). roots contain up 80-90 per cent by dry weight 80 starch. Increasing world population, limited land area, changing climatic condition scarcity demanded need improved Yield related both tuber volume thus can be breeding. Thus QTL mapping very much relevant understand genetic effects controlling traits. current study focused on SC (starch content) identify favourite alleles using Windows cartographer version 2.5. Single marker analysis (SMA) identified seven associated with eight SC. Using interval mapping, single was chrom21 flanked SSRY110b SSRY182b. On other hand, five QTLs were simple (SIM) chrom17 R2 12% at LOD 5 composite (CIM). exact position interactions studied MIM effect found over-dominance. But case SC, interaction additive x epistatic interaction.

Diallel analysis of provitamin A carotenoid and dry matter content in cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz)

Global efforts are underway to biofortify cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) with provitamin A carotenoids to help combat dietary vitamin A deficiency afflicting the health of more than 500 million resource-poor people in Sub-Saharan Africa. To further the biofortification initiative in Uganda, a 6×6 diallel analysis was conducted to estimate combining ability of six provitamin A clones and gen...

Quantitative Trait Loci Affecting Liver Fat Content in Mice

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, a condition in which excess fat accumulates in the liver, is strongly associated with the metabolic syndrome, including obesity and other related conditions. This disease has the potential to progress from steatosis to steatohepatitis, fibrosis, and cirrhosis. The recent increase in the prevalence of the metabolic syndrome is largely driven by changes in diet a...

Quantitative trait loci for lipid content in Drosophila melanogaster.

Recombinant inbred lines derived from a natural population were used to investigate natural genetic variation for lipid abundance, protein abundance, and weight of Drosophila melanogaster. Females were heavier and contained more lipid and soluble protein than males. Lipid and protein abundance were genetically correlated with female weight, but male weight was not correlated with lipid or prote...

Identification of quantitative trait loci controlling fibre length and lignin content in Arabidopsis thaliana stems

Fibre properties and the biochemical composition of cell walls are important traits in many applications. For example, the lengths of fibres define the strength and quality of paper, and lignin content is a critical parameter for the use of biomass in biofuel production. Identifying genes controlling these traits is comparatively difficult in woody species, because of long generation times and ...
